Where Can I Watch American Sports in Hawaii?

How Can We Help?

There are no major league sports teams in Hawaii, instead, the University of Hawaii (UH) college sports are the biggest games played in the islands. They have a massive following!

If you can’t make it to a live UH sports game head to the nearest Hawaii sports bar, they’ll have it playing on the big screen.

University of Hawaii Sports

Hawaii’s home team is the University of Hawaii (UH) and the most popular sports played are Football (Gridiron), Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, and Soccer.

The men’s teams are known as “Rainbow Warriors” and the women’s teams “Rainbow Wahine” (wahine means woman in Hawaiian). They’re also nicknamed “The Bows” and you’ll hear “Let’s Go Bows!” chanted during the games.

How To Purchase Tickets

The easiest way to check the UH sports game schedule, and purchase tickets, is on the official University of Hawaii Athletics website hawaiiathletics.com. The tickets section will redirect to the ETicketsHawaii platform where you can secure your seats at eticketshawaii.com. Alternatively, you can phone or visit a ticket outlet.

Where Are the Sports Played?

Some sports are played on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus (Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, and Baseball), and others are held at different venues around the island (Football and Soccer).

Getting There

Uber/Lyft ride-sharing apps enable you to hire on-demand private drivers. They’re used prolifically in Hawaii and are a convenient option for getting to and from UH games, especially to the venues 15 to 30-minutes from Waikiki.

TIP: Set up your Uber/Lyft accounts prior to arrival and get familiar with the apps. If you are new to Uber/Lyft use the following Promo Codes for first-ride discounts. Uber: k6863 Lyft: ASHLEE538536

Women’s Volleyball

One of the best sports to watch live in Hawaii is the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball. The team ranks in the US Top 10 and has one of the largest fan bases of any volleyball team in America. Games are played at Stan Sheriff Center, an indoor stadium. This center serves beers (it is rare for college sports arenas to serve alcohol) and local foods including saimin noodles and teriyaki chicken, as well as the usual hot dogs and nachos. It’s a true American sports experience in Hawaii! The games draw large, enthusiastic crowds and incorporate fun halftime shows with giveaways. Tickets are affordable and range from $15-40 each.
